Colum Whelan
Managing DirectorColum is a Fellow of The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, having qualified in 1990. He gained over 15 years experience in Irish business, such as Irish Biscuits ,Bewley’s , Digital and Sharptext, before forming a Management Accounting practice in 1995. This business flourished and is now Guardian Management Accounting.
He was president of The Dublin and District Branch of CIMA in 2006. He has also been Chairman of the Members in Practice Committee of CIMA from 2000 - 2006. In addition he represented CIMA on the CCABI Taxation Committee in 2005/6.
He is a member of the Networking Group Business Network International - BNI (www.bnifitzwilliam.com) and has been chapter director on three occasions.
Colum acts as non executive director for a number of Guardian’s clients, and is also treasurer of the Volleyball Association of Ireland and Glenalbyn Tennis Club.
Colum has a passion for cars, but was so taken by Robert Kiosaki’s book Rich Dad, Poor Dad, he went out and bought a second hand Nissan Maxima and is still driving it 7 years later!Yong Sheng Li ACCA
Accountant
Li is an Associate Member of ACCA(Association of Chartered Certified Accountants), having qualified in 2007. Li joined Guardian in 2008 from our Associated audit practice Brophy Gillespie as a senior accountant. Li has been worked for FGS where he studied and qualified during 2006 - 2008. Li specialises in technical areas of audit, preparing statutory accounts, bookkeeping, vat, paye and corporation tax and advices the practice on all technical accounting matters.
Li sees things as black and white, and has pleasure telling the revenue when they are wrong and quotes acts, laws and sub paragraphs for a hobby.-
Avril Shortt ACCA
Accountant
Avril joined the practice as a part qualified accountant in 2007 from a fund management company, and qualified in May 2009. She provides accounting support to many clients in the area of accounting and Management Accounts.
Avril is a keen traveller and likes to tick challenges off for fun. -
Evelyn Whelehan AITI
Senior Consultant
Evelyn is the longest standing member of the firm, having joined from Oniva in 2001. Evelyn is an Accounting Technician, and her particular strength is in the area of payroll and incomplete records.
Evelyn is a keen GAA fan, a member of Faughs GAA club, and her pride and joy is her Merc Coupe. She loves Friday’s and her favourite movie is ‘As good as it gets’. -
Geraldine Whelan
Accounting Technician / Office AdministratorGeraldine has recently passed her final exams and carries out book keeping duties for a variety of clients. This includes outsourced credit control for many of our clients and this results in quicker payment for many clients.
In her spare time Ger takes her frustration out on a tennis ball in Glenalbyn.
